How it Began
We are a hand-poured, soy wax, mother-daughter run, candle company nestled in the heart of Austin, Texas! Our journey started in 2014, right after Cassie embarked on an unforgettable culinary adventure through Spain. Inspired by the vibrant culture and a desire to infuse her culinary skills into something new, she began creating custom soy candles using unique recycled jars and containers found in and around Austin.
Quickly, a passion for candle-making ignited within her, and she yearned to perfect this art while still cherishing her culinary roots. Determined to create the absolute best product, she spent nearly a year in the test kitchen, pouring her whole self into this adventure. Finally, in a wonderful blend of prayers and perseverance, her dream of Soy Austin became a reality!
The name "Soy Austin" holds a special significance, combining the essence of soy, the core element of our candles, the Spanish meaning of "I am," inspired by Cassie's unforgettable summer in Spain and city she was born and raised in, Austin. Soy Austin, "I am" Austin.

Meet Cassie
Hey there, I'm Cassie Teykl, a true Austinite born and raised! Austin is not just my home; it's my heart and soul.
My journey into the candle-making world began as a fun hobby. After earning my degree in Culinary Arts from Le Cordon Bleu, my creativity took an exciting turn. I curated incredible and unique candle scents, and soon, my friends and family were clamoring to experience my creations in their own homes.
The overwhelming demand during the holiday season led to the birth of "Cassie's Candles," and that's when the magic truly began. Fueled by passion and supported by my incredible partner, Connie Jo Teykl (aka Mom, Co-Owner), we officially became a dynamic mother-daughter duo in 2018. Together, we have been building Soy Austin with love and dedication.

Over the years, we've grown exponentially, thanks to the immense support of our valued customers. With a full-time Operations Manager, Lisa Fields, and a fantastic team of part-time and seasonal hires, we've spread our all-natural, 100% soy wax, 100% cotton wick, and non-toxic luxury candles across Texas. We've participated in numerous holiday markets, formed meaningful partnerships with local businesses, and established wholesale accounts—all to bring the warm glow of Soy Austin to homes far and wide.

Our clean-burning, long-lasting soy wax, derived from vegetable oil, offers twice the burn time of conventional paraffin wax candles, which are made from petroleum oil.
Preserving the natural purity of the soybean wax is a priority for us, and that's why we never add dyes, keeping our candles in their beautiful ivory color state.
